Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is passed to the outside provider that supplies results. Jamestown Residents Directory does not retain a copy of a search query on its own servers. A message sent to us contains only the information in that message and is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may create ordinary logs such as an IP address, browser type, page request, and timestamp. We use aggregate technical information to maintain the service and understand traffic. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement where used.
How Information Is Used
Limited technical data helps operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the reference. We do not sell a visitor list or build individual visitor profiles from search activity.
External Sites and Searches
Links lead to government portals, archival collections, libraries, and third-party search providers. Their own privacy notices govern information submitted after leaving this site, including information submitted through sponsored results or an official records portal.
Service Providers
Hosting and support providers may process technical logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed only when a valid legal obligation requires disclosure or when needed to operate the service.
Security Practices
The site uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for operational needs. Because the service has no visitor accounts, it does not store a visitor password or a user profile that could be exposed through an account breach.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us to request review and deletion of what is held.
Your Privacy Requests
You may ask about personal information this private reference has retained through the Contact page. Because only limited logs and correspondence are kept, a request will normally concern those items. New York's Personal Privacy Protection Law provides an agency-specific route for state records about oneself, subject to exemptions, but it is not a statewide deletion right. Public records held by the City of Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York State, or another custodian remain under that custodian's correction and access procedures.
